Fuglies Sunglasses Announces Major Sponsorship For Glenn Scott Motorcycle RacingWho is Glenn Scott?
Glenn has had to endure personal tragedy that nobody at a young age should ever have to experience. His parents, Denise and Dennis Scott were killed in a motorcycle accident when Glenn was only 12 years old. Since that time Glenn has been raised by his older brother, Greg and sister, Candice. The three Scott children have stayed together as a family and supported each other throughout the past five years. The Scott family has always had a passion for motorbikes. This was no doubt cultivated by Denise and Dennis before they were tragically killed doing what they enjoyed, riding motorbikes. Glenn's first bike was a LEM 50cc, a motorbike purchased by his parents when Glenn was only 5 years old. By the time Glenn was 6, he had won his first Australian Championship in Victoria. Over the next 6 years the Scott family would travel throughout the states of Australia competing in various dirt bike competitions. The passing of Glenn's parents saw Greg and Candice continue to support Glenn and his dream to be a World Champion. By the time Glenn was 15 years of age he had won a further 42 State titles and 8 Australian titles. Without the support of his family, Glenn would not have had the opportunity to experience such success.
Glenn's potential and talent were recognized in 2007 when only 15, a student at school and barely old enough to road race he won the 125cc Australian Superbike Championship. In doing so, Glenn had 10 straight wins across Australia and broke 2 lap records to be crowned 125GP Australian Champion. What makes his achievement remarkable is Glenn was the "new kid", racing seasoned competitors. Even more remarkable, Glenn was able to complete his School Certificate at Central Coast Grammar School. Glenn's school years have been well supported by both fellow students and staff. During 2008 Glenn travelled to Spain to compete in the 125GP Spanish Championship, with a private team called 7C, riding a Honda. This was a steep learning curve for Glenn. He was racing against the best riders and living in a foreign country away from home at only 16 years of age.
This year Glenn is even more determined to achieve his goal: to be World Champion. He has returned to Spain to ride for the official Honda Stop and Go Castrol team in the 125GP Spanish Championship. The 2010 season will see Glenn riding in the Australian Formula Xtreme Championship on the all new S 1000 RR BMW, the championship consists of 5 rounds across Australia. The support of Fuglies Eyewear, InsureMyRide and Karisma Joinery has brought much enthusiam and motivation for Glenn and made his transition into the Australian Championship much smoother than anticipated.
Coming from a 125 background, riding the BMW will be a big directional change for Glenn. The year will be challenging but Glenn is excitied to be gaining experience on a bigger, faster fourstroke motor bike. Riding the BMW this year will also be prepartion for Glenn for when he one day rides in the MotoGP World Championship. Glenn’s goal is not only to be part of the World Championship but, to be a World Champion. Glenn has come so far in a short time. Whether this young man does become World Champion one day or not is irrelevant. The fact, he has a dream and is doing whatever he can under difficult circumstances to live his dream is amazing. With the support of his loving brother and sister there is no looking back. "This year I am more determined than ever to achieve my goal. I have come so far and jumped many hurdles." Glenn's parents would be proud of him and his brother, Greg and sister, Candice. Glenn is the embodiement of the true Australian spirit. He has such determination and integrity the Central Coast community is proud to follow Glenn on his journey as will the rest of Australia when they learn of his compelling story of commitment.
